Spring Air
wins consumer mattress challenge for an
unprecedented fifth year in a row.
From coast to coast, three of five consumers
preferred the feel of the
Spring Air
Back Supporter
mattress to similarly priced mattresses made by
Sealy, Serta, and Simmons. And last year, Spring Air
was even preferred by seven out of10 people over
higher-priced mattresses by Select Comfort and
Tempur-Pedic.
The Test
So there would be no clouding of issues, an
independent and national testing company was hired
to oversee the consumer Mattress Challenge. The
Mattress Challenge preference tests in 2001, 2002,
2003 and 2005, against Sealy, Serta, and Simmons,
were conducted by NOP World. They monitored the
preference test in malls from coast to coast, and
simply asked more than 2,400 consumers to "rest
test" two mattresses side by side. One mattress each
time was a Spring Air Back Supporter Euro Top
mattress, and the other mattress belonged to Sealy,
Serta or Simmons. None of the mattresses were
identifiable to consumers, and the preference tests
used mattress sets in a similar price category of
approximately $999 retail.
The results were crystal
clear: 60% of the consumers chose Spring Air.
